I've tried two sets of these, as I have always had good luck with Race Face, but these are very, very creaky. Both sets creak really loud at the non-drive side. Seems to be the press fit of the spindle to the crank arm. I've replaced bearings, BB, etc attempting to find the problem. Finally spent more cash on some new XT cranks. Creaks gone. Creaks stayed gone for two weeks of riding. This combined with an Aeffect R dropper that wobbles and rotates on its own, and I'm feeling pretty done with Race Face.

I have been riding a Santa Cruz Chameleon for 2 1/2 years. I bought this bike new and the Aeffect Crackset came standard. I love the frame but unfortunately I do not like the RaceFace products on this bike in particular the crankset. The crankset resonates sounds of creeks, cracks , and hard robust thuds. Before I know it the crankset is fractured like a bone and I can no longer safely ride my bike because the crank works itself loose. I ride my bike hard but very disappointed in this crankset because its gone bad way too soon.
If I were to do it all over again I would just buy the frame and build the bike up from there which is what I am basically doing now.

This crankset is still going after 3yrs and a lot of pedal strikes so can't complain. I definitely had the same creaking problems of the other reviewers, but after taking it apart, cleaning and greasing up the splines I haven't had any issues. There was some corrosion on the non-drive side of the spindle where it contacts the inner bearing race of the bottom bracket. Not sure if this was moisture ingress or insufficient grease from the bike shop originally, but some metal polish cleaned it up. Also started getting some corrosion on the inside of the spindle which was not great, but a light coating of grease has stopped that for now.

I picked this crank for some simple reasons. it features a 24mm axle and still comes in at very resonable weight penalty while providing enough stiffness. since 24mm diameter bottom brackets bearings are more reliable compared to their 30 mm counterparts I wanted to go back to 24mm. riding it for 2 years now on my RM Slayer I can say this piece took some serious hits during regular enduro and bike park missions but also countless hours on hill climbs.

this workhorse performed surprisingly
smooth and without any creaking since it is properly greased and fixed with recommended torque once a year. one thing that needs to be improved is the finish as it started wearing off quite fast.
